Mamata Banerjee In Indian Politics Is A Name That Needs No Introduction Famous for her strong will, unflinching commitment, and connection with the people, she has created a distinct personality for herself as a leader who speaks her mind and takes a stand for what she believes in. As the first woman Chief Minister of West Bengal and the founder of the All India Trinamool Congress Mamata has changed the political game of West Bengal and is still one powerful woman. From modest origins to political prominence. Mamata was born on January 5, 1955 in Kolkata (Calcutta at the time of birth). The girl that began her political career and did not stop studying after her father failed to return was Mamata Banerjee of Kolkata. During the 1970s, she began her career as a student leader and gained recognition for being outspoken. The Rise of Bengal’s ‘Didi’. Mamata joined the Indian National Congress in the 1980s. She made history by winning over Somnath Chatterjee, the Communist Party leader, at the Lok Sabha elections in 1984.
