From Lowly Origins to Bollywood Affair. Akshay Kumar's real name, Rajiv Bhatia, was born on September 9, 1967, in Amritsar. Soon he shifted to Delhi. Later the family moved to Mumbai. The man was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth or into riches but has more than that; it is an unbroken spirit. In the following years, he travelled to Thailand due to his inclination for martial arts. There he learned Muay Thai and worked as a chef and waiter to survive. He had no means of understanding that this would one day make him Bollywood’s ultimate action hero! The Khiladi Who Changed the Game. In 1991, Akshay made his Bollywood premiere in Saugandh but khiladi (1992) made him a superstar in Bollywood.
