Suyash Panday was born on September 26, 1962, and he hails from a well-respected family of doctors. His daddy, Dr. Sharad Panday, the heart surgeon and his mommy Dr. Snehlata Panday was a gynecologist. But, Suyash was drawn towards the entertainment world despite his parents’ careers.
The name "Chunky" has an interesting backstory. As a kid, he was called “Chunky” by his nanny. The name stuck as he was chubby. So, by the time entered Bollywood, the name “Chunky Panday” had stuck.

Chunky Panday entered Bollywood in 1987 when he did Aag Hi Aag. But, with 1988 blockbuster Tezaab where he played Anil Kapoor’s friend Babban, he became famous. His performance got him a Filmfare nom for Best Supporting Actor after which, he became one of the most sought-after actors.

Why did you choose acting? How did your parents being doctors influence this?
Chunky said, there was always an expectation to take up a secure profession, but my heart wanted to act. Luckily, my parents didn’t mind.
How was your experience of working in Bangladeshi cinema?
Working in Bangladeshi cinema was a rewarding experience for Chunky Panday. The love he received from fans there made him realise that movies do not have boundaries.
What do you think of your daughter Ananya’s journey in Bollywood?
“I’m really proud of her. She is very talented, hard-working and courageous to choose the work she wants to do. I always tell her to not lose perspective, have fun and not take herself too seriously.”
